Summer Traditions-Cape Cod 2013

So, another, more recent tradition is going to the Cape with my husband's side of the family after the Vineyard-I know tough life, right? So, after a week on the Vineyard, we catch the ferry over to the Cape to party with our friends and family on the other side of the family. It really is a non-stop party, and we always have a blast!

The weather on the Cape was perfect-sunshine every day! We celebrated the fourth in style :)

The whole crew!

See you all again next year-same time, same place!!

Thankful Thursday: Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I love this holiday-it's close to the other big holiday, so it feels very similar, yet there's not the stress of gift buying & giving. This year, we're continuing our family tradition of going to VT with our family friends. We'll be heading up to Manchester, VT tomorrow, and I can't wait. It's absolutely gorgeous up there this time of year!

We'll be cooking dinner tomorrow and then heading out to the outlets for Black Friday- I can't wait!! So far, it looks like Kate Spade, J. Crew, and Vineyard Vines are all having huge sales-YAY!

Lately, I feel thankful for so many things....

1.) Seeing friends and family who all have their health and are in good spirits.

2.) Driving around and seeing decorated houses-those icicle lights get me every time!

3.) Being part of special traditions that hold so much meaning to me.

4.) Having close family nearby to share the holidays with.

5.) Starting the Christmas decorations!!

6.) Oh and Rod Stewart's new Christmas album- love :)

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! And good luck, if you're like me and are braving the crowds on Black Friday!!

Thankful Thursday

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holiday-there's no pressure for finding the perfect gifts, it's a time that's full of family and feeling thankful. So, in that spirit, every Thursday until Thanksgiving, I'm going to try and reflect upon the week and list the things that I'm thankful for, no matter how big or small.

This past week, I've been in a bit of a funk, for no reason in particular, I mean work's been tough, blah, blah, blah, I feel so silly being in a bad mood and feeling bad about my life, when really there's no need to. There are people struggling with really heavy things, and I feel like I have no right to complain. None the less, it was just one of those weeks. Hopefully this next one will be better.

Here are some things I'm thankful for this week:

1.) Pumpkin everything! I had at least one pumpkin beverage a day this week, sometimes even two :)

2.) Random days off in the middle of the week, so I can have a morning cup of coffee with the hubs.

3.) People that are there for you when you're having a tough day and give, give, give, even when you have nothing to give back (emotionally).

4.) Windows open a crack at night, a cool breeze blowing in and a blanket
that is three times the size of me that I can bundle up in.

5.) Peaks of color starting to pop on trees!

6.) The fall show line-ups that are cracking me up! I'm loving Go On, The New Normal,
Guys With Kids, The New Girl, Modern Family...

7.) A variety of pumpkin beers

8.) Walking around town with this little pup in tow

9.) Pretty sunrises that make a 6am commute that much better

10.) New slippers from Target

11.) Matching mani/pedis

Those are just some of the things that made me smile this week, what are you thankful for lately?

A day up in Portsmouth, NH

So, this is a little late, but I've been slacking lately,
desperately trying to soak up all the last bits of summer...

A few weeks ago, we were up at a wedding in Maine, and when I say 'up', I mean 'up'....it was 5 hours north of Boston-definitely the furthest north I've been! So, on the way home, we decided to take a half-way break, in Portsmouth, NH with our good friends Jess and Greg-and with the traffic that day, it was a much needed break!

We walked around the downtown area, ate some great seafood,
had some cold drinks and watched the ships-it was glorious!

Thanks Jess and Greg for introducing us to Portsmouth, NH! We hope to go back soon!

Summer Wedding: Andy & Lena

Last weekend, we went on a little road trip to Colby College for the wedding of Nick's good childhood friend Andy and his bride, Lena. It was a beautiful day and every detail was perfectly planned out, from releasing balloons in front of their campus quad to handkerchiefs for 'happy tears'. The food was delish and the 80s tunes had us on the dance floor all night!

On the way to Maine-dog friendly hotel, so Gert tagged along!

Congratulations Andy & Lena!! Thanks for an awesome time!
