Thankful

This Thanksgiving was really special. For the first time, we ate Thanksgiving dinner with Nick's family, which was amazing. We gorged ourselves on tons of yummy homemade food and spent time with each other. It was priceless :)

Later that night, we drove up to Vermont to spend the weekend with my parents and our family friends. It had all of my favorite things: great food, great people, laughs, nature walks, and outlet shopping!

Black Friday Madness

I love the holidays so so much, and for me Thanksgiving weekend is the kick-off to the holiday season. I am officially 'allowed' to put up decorations, play Christmas music (like that wasn't happening in my car already...) and all the other fun holiday things. This is without a doubt my favorite time of year! While I love Thanksgiving, the turkey, stuffing, gravy, pies-yum! I really get a rush thinking about all the sales that Black Friday brings. For as long as I can remember my Mom and I and some family friends pack up the car and head to the Manchester VT outlets bright and early to get all the early bird sales. Now outlets in Manchester will mean I'll miss the traditional Black Friday favorites-Target, Macy's etc. however, I will have my laptop ready for the on-line sales! My husband has now begun to refer to me as the crazy Target lady....yes the training has begun :)

But really what's the harm, when afterwards I end up like this:

Happy (almost) Black Friday everyone!! May the sales gods be with you :)

Things are heating up!

.....with our new fireplace!!

So we've been talking about getting a fireplace since last winter and this year we decided to go for it.  It's more of a fancy space heater-but hey this thing really cranks out heat and I love love love that I actually have a mantel this year! I can't wait to decorate it for the holidays :) We live in an older apartment and it just fits perfectly, I never used to sit in my living room, but now I'm always in there! It adds such a nice cozy feel-and obviously Gertie has made herself at home in front of it :)

What are you doing to decorate for fall??
